After 2 years of development, the most used Windows packet driver in the world, Winpcap, reached 3.1 version (which can be installed even on Microsoft Vista beta 1).
The very negative thing is that this 3.1 is not compatible with the most used intrusion detection system in the world: Snort (at least till the actual 2.40 version).
So until Snort isn't adapted to run with the new Winpcap you'll need to use 3.0 or 3.1 beta 4 versions, both available on the electronic archives of Politecnico di Torino.
